This 3-hour workshop will help participants to recognize a set-up, identify manipulation and how to effectively eliminate ourselves from the manipulation game. In addition, participants will learn how to respond, what and when to document and what to do when they are being set-up. We will identify boundaries and assist with protectors for the participants. We will utilize real-play scenarios to enhance skill building by practicing what we do and will have plenty of time for questions and answers.

This is practical and helpful for all staff who work with offenders in the MN DOC institutions and for staff who are working with offenders released from MN DOC institutions to their agencies as clients.

Participants will be provided with an overview of the Office of Special Investigation (OSI) and the Hearings and Release Unit (HRU). Examples of staff cases we might look at administratively will be presented.

Presenters:
Jeff Dansky, DOC Office of Special Investigations Supervisor
Mark Koderick, DOC Office of Special Investigations Supervisor
Kristin Lang, DOC Hearings and Release Officer
